Today, we were very privileged to welcome Ged King from Skullfades Foundation once more to Firwood Manor. Ged came to collect all the shoeboxes that the children had kindly filled for the local homeless people. The Junior children launched an appeal across school for filled shoeboxes. The response was fantastic and we had over 40 boxes and bags filled with toiletries, chocolate, warm clothing and messages of hope. We also had coats and sleeping bags donated. During the visit, Ged talked to the children about the amazing work he and the foundation do not only with the local homeless people but also in France. The children were shocked hearing about the young people who live on the streets and have nothing.
Ged was overwhelmed with the gifts and will be personally distributing the shoe boxes on Christmas Eve in Manchester. He commented on the difference these gifts will make to others and the children have asked that they can also help out later in the year with other initiatives. We were once again incredibly proud of the Firwood children.
We are looking to work with Ged in the near future.
